Six million pre-orders with under five weeks to go: that is the figure analytics firm Sensor Tower shows for GTA 6 as of October 13, reports World Is Small. Analyst Karl Kontus goes further and expects 25 million reservations by November 19.

How many GTA 6 pre-orders does Sensor Tower count?

According to World Is Small, which cites the firm's tracking tool, the game had about 6.08 million pre-orders on October 13, 2026, net of cancellations and refunds. That would be close to $594 million in potential revenue. The split is lopsided: 74% would come from PS5 and 26% from Xbox Series X|S, which fits what we noted about Xbox's near absence from the launch trailer.

These are estimates from an outside firm, not figures from Rockstar or Take-Two. Neither company has published any pre-order total.

Why 25 million, and $2 billion?

Per World Is Small, Kontus believes GTA 6 could reach 25 million pre-orders by launch, a level he calls unprecedented for the industry. At that pace pre-order revenue would approach $2 billion, enough to cover the development budget and most of the marketing. Sensor Tower expects a sharp acceleration in the final week.

Price matters too. In the US the standard edition is $80, against $60 for GTA V and Red Dead Redemption II at launch, with a $100 edition on top. Sensor Tower sees early orders going mostly to the pricier one, a sign of fans buying first, then a split near 50/50 as the wider public arrives. For the confirmed prices, see our price page.

Which records are on the line?

The bar is high. GTA V made $800 million in 24 hours in 2013 and passed a billion in three days, according to the same article; Red Dead Redemption II made $725 million over its first weekend in 2018. The piece adds that $60 in 2013 is worth roughly $85 today, which softens GTA 6's price jump: even adjusted for inflation, Sensor Tower thinks the game could beat its elders.

Why it matters

Nothing here is official, so nothing is settled: a firm's projection is a projection, and the gap between 6 and 25 million is huge. Still, the first number already says something about a game whose November 19 release is awaited like no other. Real figures, if Take-Two shares them, will come after launch.
