For the first time in a Rockstar game, the radio will follow you on foot: Jason and Lucia can listen to stations and podcasts through earbuds linked to their smartphones, La Crème du Gaming recalls, based on the October 8 announcement.
Rockstar writes it in a statement quoted by ComicBook and relayed by La Crème du Gaming: GTA VI introduces "a series of on-demand podcasts" Jason and Lucia can hear "outside of Leonida's airwaves", with radio and podcasts available "both in vehicles and on foot thanks to new headphones and earbuds linked to their smartphones".
In every earlier GTA, the sound stopped the moment you left the car. Even Red Dead Redemption 2, with its contextual music, never gave players a stream of their own choosing, the outlet points out.
Six stations are confirmed: Cocoteo FM (Latin), Back Country Radio (country), AfroBank FM, The Chamber 106.6 (metal), the return of Flash FM (pop) and Dirty South Classics (Southern rap), with artists such as Bad Bunny, Lana Del Rey and Burna Boy. We covered the voices in our piece on the radio stars, and the full soundtrack lives on the radio page. The podcasts remain vague: Rockstar has not said what they cover or how many there are. La Crème du Gaming imagines satire and parody shows, a guess based on the series' history, not information.

A night walk through Vice City or a stroll in the Leonida swamps will keep its music, with no menu detour and no cut at the car door. Still unknown: whether players can balance volume against dialogue, and whether the earbuds are something to buy in game. Rockstar has said nothing on those points.
