PlayStation reaches the GTA 6 launch with results at a high, reports Gamekult. Sony published its quarter to September 30, 2026, and gaming shows records before Rockstar's game has even shipped.

For July to September, Sony Interactive Entertainment booked 6.80 billion euros in revenue, up 9 percent, and 1.23 billion euros operating profit, up 83 percent, in Gamekult's converted amounts. Digital game sales rose 23 percent to a record 1.8 billion euros, boxed games 22 percent to 242 million euros. In total 88.2 million PS5 and PS4 games sold in the quarter.
Sony sold 2.6 million PS5 in the quarter against 4 million a year earlier, when the console was under 500 euros. The installed base is 97.9 million at September 30. Gamekult concludes the 100 million mark should be passed around the GTA 6 release: that is the outlet's projection, not a Sony statement.
These figures cover a quarter without GTA 6, out on November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, so they say nothing about its sales. See also the PS5 pre-order chart.

Most GTA 6 buyers on PlayStation already own the console, as the gap between 2.6 million sold and 97.9 million installed shows. Hardware sales will be watched from launch.
