Police in Derbyshire, England, edited a real car chase like a Grand Theft Auto sequence and joked that the driver would miss GTA 6. The story comes from The Mary Sue, which relies on IGN and on the local force's TikTok post.

What does the Derbyshire police video show?

According to The Mary Sue, officers follow a black van through residential streets to "Flower in a Hurricane", a track from the game's soundtrack. The edit lays a GTA-style interface over the footage: a wanted-star indicator and a small map tracking the van. Officers eventually block the van and make an arrest, and the clip is spreading, the outlet writes.

The caption names Ripley as the location. It says the 28-year-old man received 14 months in prison after admitting dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, drug-driving and cannabis possession. The outlet notes the location, sentence and charges come from the police post and could not be independently verified.

What does the caption say, and what should we take from it?

The force wrote: "Could've just waited a few more weeks for GTA 6 to drop…". It adds that thirteen years is a long time to wait for the game, but nothing excuses driving like this in real life, and tells viewers to "save that stuff for the streets of Vice City". The real subject is speeding in daylight near pedestrians.

No Rockstar link: to our knowledge the studio has not reacted, and the song is from the soundtrack covered on our music page. It is one more sign the game now works as a cultural reference point, as seen with employees planning time off and Kai Cenat's GTA marathon.

Why it matters

Nothing for the game itself, but the episode shows the November 19 release already works as a punchline, even for institutions. The joke lands because everyone knows the reference. We will see whether other forces follow.
