A studio sending its own players to a competitor is not an everyday sight. Bulkhead, the team behind the shooter Wardogs, is closing for the whole of December and telling its community to go play GTA 6, GTA BOOM reports, based on an interview with Edge magazine.

What did Bulkhead's boss say about GTA 6?

According to GTA BOOM, CEO Joe Brammer says the whole team earned a rest after launching Wardogs in early access, where it has already sold three million copies. His message is plain: "Go play GTA 6, we need to detox." He adds, in blunter words than we will repeat here, that players can leave the studio alone in December rather than file bug reports the team would only reach in January.

The calendar is therefore embraced: the game launches on November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and Bulkhead would rather enjoy the period than fight it.

Why does the gesture matter?

A few months ago, Rockstar's release looked like a zone to avoid. GTA BOOM recalls that Microsoft reportedly built its 2026 calendar around it, that publishers fled the November window and that Helldivers 2 skipped its monthly updates, which fans link to GTA 6 without any confirmation from the studio. We already covered that wave in our piece on the games that fled November.

The outlet lists warmer reactions too: a Mass Effect developer celebrating the launch, a US company that gave its staff launch day off, and Rockstar itself, which GTA BOOM says pulled its teams back to the office for the final push. Those points come from third-party articles we have not checked one by one.

Why it matters

Nothing changes in the game, but the tone has shifted. For publishers, "avoid November" gives way to "join in", at least for a small studio with nothing to lose by admitting the obvious: nobody's community will play anything else that month. One unknown remains: how many Wardogs players come back in January. For launch coverage, see the release page.
