GTA 6 pre-loading starts on November 12, 2026, seven days before the November 19 launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar has not detailed the process yet, but several outlets already cover it, including Clubic and THM Magazine.
On November 12 for the digital version. Files download ahead of time, but the game cannot be launched before the unlock time. Clubic sums up the benefit: you get a week to start the download and be ready on November 19. The exact hour pre-loading opens that day has not been announced.
The retail version has no disc, only a download code, as we explained in our article on the discless box. According to THM Magazine, citing official documentation, boxes should be available from November 12 to allow pre-loading, with a likely stock shortage. RockstarINTEL gives the same date for Walmart pre-order code pickup in the US, where a "surprise" gift would also be handed out.
One figure is circulating: 210 GB on PS5. It comes from a leak and Rockstar has not confirmed it, as covered in our piece on the unconfirmed size. If true, download time depends mostly on your connection: from 30 minutes to over 46 hours. Clubic estimates about 4 h 40 at 100 Mb/s. Clearing space before the 12th is the only safe precaution.

Pre-loading avoids the launch-day server crush, but it does not answer the question many players ask: when does the game unlock? That time is still unknown, and staggered time-zone release remains a hypothesis. All dates are on the release page.
