HotHardware, citing Edge's cover story, says Rockstar slowed GTA 6 vehicles and the wider simulation because the game felt too fast for its level of detail.

GTA 6 runs slower than its engine allowed. That is what HotHardware reports from Edge's cover story: Rockstar development head Aaron Garbut says the game had to be slowed to reduce an uncanny valley effect and improve realism. The detail comes from a preview, not a Rockstar press release.

According to HotHardware, the world became so detailed that it no longer held up at full speed. Vehicles and the overall simulation were slowed, and traffic was narrowed, not just slowed, for realism. The logic is simple: the finer the scenery, the more a car crossing it too fast breaks the illusion.
The outlet notes the full Edge story can be read online at GamesRadar. Rockstar shared it on X, but that post adds nothing new.
Per HotHardware, dynamic weather travels with clouds across the map, so players can drive through it, around it, or brave rough seas. Pedestrians take cover from rain and thunder. They grow wary if you carry a weapon on your back, and one released his dog because the player stared too long. Some fight back when you hijack their car, others give police tracking information on newer models.

The Criminal Profile system, based on Red Dead Redemption 2, ties Jason and Lucia's morality to the story. The outlet does not know whether violent choices lead to a sadder ending. Map scale is covered in our Leonida article, mission rules in the one on money.
No speed values are given, nor any figure compared with GTA 5. Whether a setting will let players speed things up is also unknown.
A less arcade, heavier GTA, closer to RDR2. It will be judged hands-on on November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. All the landmarks are on the release page.
