Hackers are exploiting the wait for GTA 6 to trap impatient PC players. According to BFM, citing a NordVPN report, fake PS5 emulators are circulating on GitHub: behind the name of a known project sits software that steals passwords and sensitive data.
NordVPN's threat team spotted several programs copying the names of real projects such as KytyPS5 and AnyPS5. Once installed, they add exclusion rules to keep Microsoft Defender away, drop an executable that harvests passwords, then run a cleanup script to vanish. Victims notice nothing until their credentials are used, for instance on e-commerce sites, says BFM.
"Emulation fans are a perfect target," said Marijus Briedis, NordVPN's chief technology officer: they are used to downloading experimental software from GitHub and running unsigned files, so nothing looks suspicious.
Because GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only, with no PC version announced. KytyPS5, the most advanced project according to BFM, aims for stability by launch, but it still crashes on startup and runs poorly. Nothing guarantees it will get there, and Sony has not commented. Scammers are betting on impatience: PC demand, already fed by an analyst's guess at a PC release, has no official answer.

No PS5 emulator runs GTA 6 reliably today, and the game has no announced PC version. Any file promising otherwise, or a downloadable "PC version" before November 19, should be treated as suspect. Legitimate purchases go through official stores, listed on our price page.
Nothing changes for the game, a lot for player caution. Less than three weeks before launch, GTA 6 scams are multiplying: fake emulators, fake downloads, fake codes. The only PC version worth waiting for is the one Rockstar announces itself, and it has not.
