GTA 6 posts the highest purchase intent Circana has ever tracked for a video game. According to Notebookcheck, citing the firm's PlayerPulse tracker, 29% of US console and PC gamers plan to buy it when it launches on November 19, 2026.
The survey covers the United States, and Circana polled PC players too even though Rockstar has announced no PC version. The game launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with the standard edition at $79.99.
Mat Piscatella, the firm's video games industry advisor, calls it "a rare cultural and commercial moment" for the industry. He expects demand to reach past the game itself into consoles, accessories and subscriptions. Many players still on previous-generation hardware may buy a PS5 or Xbox Series just to play it, with Black Friday close.
GTA 5 remains the best-selling premium game Circana has tracked in the US, by units and dollars. Take-Two puts the 2013 release at nearly 230 million units shipped worldwide. Circana projects US video game spending up 3% in 2026 to $62.8 billion, above the $61.7 billion record of 2021, while Take-Two expects $8.0 to $8.2 billion in net bookings for the year ending March 2027.

On preorders, Sensor Tower estimates 6.45 million digital copies worth about $630 million as of October 20, split 74% PlayStation and 26% Xbox. These are estimates, excluding physical copies, and neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has confirmed them. Newzoo expects about $4.5 billion in launch week, and Piper Sandler over 45 million units on day one. For reference, GTA 5 sold 11.21 million on its first day in 2013. Nothing changes for the date or the content: these figures measure anticipation, not sales. They show how much Rockstar and Take-Two have riding on this launch, and why the PS5 is already being discounted. The first real numbers will come after November 19.
