Edge's cover story, relayed by La Crème Du Gaming and HotHardware, says the GTA 6 map is almost as large as the GTA 4, GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 maps combined.

The GTA 6 map is said to be "almost as big as the playable maps of GTA 4, GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 combined". The line comes from Rockstar North developers in Edge's cover story, picked up on October 30 by La Crème Du Gaming. HotHardware reads it the same way: the State of Leonida is roughly the size of those three maps added together.
Rockstar gives no square kilometres in these excerpts. The comparison rests on earlier games. La Crème Du Gaming concludes that Leonida would be about twice the size of GTA 5, but that arithmetic is the outlet's, not Rockstar's.
The outlet also cites previews mentioning travel time: roughly 5 to 10 minutes in a straight line across GTA 5, against close to 35 minutes in Leonida. That is a reported order of magnitude, not a figure published by the studio.
Yes, according to Rockstar North development head Aaron Garbut: "an order of magnitude more interiors" than previous games. Garbut had already compared the project to a pyramid on Mount Everest, as covered in our earlier article. He also says every alley is as carefully made as the next and that he still finds places he had not visited.

No full map or kilometre figure is published. Post-launch content is not detailed either. The game releases November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and no PC version is announced.
A map this size affects download size, which leaks place around 210 GB without Rockstar confirming, and how the game plays: travel becomes part of it. It will be judged on the controller on launch day. Meanwhile, the release details are gathered on our release page.
