Rockstar has said very little about the plot of GTA 6. Edge's long feature, which Insider Gaming summarized on October 29, opens a door: Jason and Lucia's ultimate goal would be to quit crime.

What do Jason and Lucia actually want?

Per Insider Gaming, Rob Nelson, co-head of Rockstar North, accepts that many players see the series as a power fantasy, and hints that the pair want something else. Money stays a driver, but it would not tell the whole story. The game would open with the couple together, wanting to "give this relationship of theirs another shot", according to the magazine.

How is this different from GTA V?

In GTA V, wealth and power shaped each protagonist's story. Here the angle would be more personal. Insider Gaming compares it to Red Dead Redemption 2, where Arthur Morgan weighs keeping his money against helping his camp. Nelson reportedly says GTA 6 builds on that more nuanced motivation. The Bonnie and Clyde dynamic from the trailers would be the starting point, not the destination.

Caution applies: this is press coverage of a print article, not an announcement on Rockstar's Newswire. Nothing says whether the pair succeed. Given the series' history, leaving that life will hardly be simple.

What else is in the Edge feature?

The same issue brought twelve new screenshots and a look at the size of Leonida. We already covered the map and exploration and the criminal profile. Release details are on the release page: November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Why it matters

We finally know what the couple is after: not just the score, but a life together. That gives the story a clearer emotional stake than the trailers did, without spoiling any mission. Whether it delivers will be clear from November 19.
