Xbox posted a picture where the GTA 6 tile shows no pre-order label; Xboxygen says the 300 MB pre-install is enough to make it appear.

Xbox's official account posted a Halloween photo in which the GTA 6 tile sits on a Series X home screen with no "pre-ordered" label. According to Pure Xbox, the post passed 2.8 million views and revived the theory that Xbox is already playing the game. Xboxygen says the detail proves nothing.
No. Xboxygen tested it: downloading the pre-install file, about 300 MB, is enough to make the tile appear on the console home screen without a pre-order. The banner is missing for an ordinary reason, and the picture shows no running game.
Pure Xbox tells it as a joke: users play detective, some call Xbox the real leaker, a nod to Sony's "GTA 6 plays best on PS5" campaign.
Xboxygen notes one detail worth a look: the tile in Xbox's photo carries a small Rockstar Games logo at the bottom right, which is absent from the tile players see after downloading the pre-install file. It could be a different build, or special access for Xbox. Nothing settles it, and neither Microsoft nor Rockstar has commented.

The timing feeds the guessing. Nate The Hate claimed on X that Rockstar has started sending review codes to outlets, with an embargo on November 18, covered in our article on the review codes. That is not officially confirmed. Platform holders holding test builds would be normal anyway, since they handle certification.
On the console side we only repeat what is solid: release on November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, pre-load from November 12. For Microsoft's market picture, see also the drop in Xbox Series sales in September. All dates are on the release page.
Nothing changes for the date or the content. It is a social media wink that drew millions of views, which mostly shows how closely every pixel of GTA 6 is watched three weeks before launch. If a screenshot "proving Xbox is playing" crosses your feed, remember Xboxygen's check: the tile shows up with a 300 MB pre-install. Only the small Rockstar logo remains an open question, with no official answer.
