A hospitality brand wants to fix the biggest problem GTA 6 players face: time. According to Verge Magazine, Generator has launched "Grand Theft Getaway", a competition that sends a loved one on a three-night trip to Amsterdam while the gamer stays home with Vice City.
Players nominate someone they live with: a partner, housemate, friend or relative. The nominee travels on Thursday 19 November 2026, release day, and returns on Sunday 22 November, per Verge Magazine.
The prize is three nights for two at Generator Amsterdam, a design hostel with communal spaces, plus £500 towards travel and spending money. The pitch is aimed squarely at gamers who want launch weekend "without interruptions".
Generator is not alone in riding the launch. Brands keep piling on: chains selling Leonida-themed sandwiches and coffee, workers booking leave (requests up 9 to 17% according to BambooHR), stores being looted of pre-orders. This one is almost practical: everyone knows a game this size eats a weekend.

No Rockstar involvement has been announced. The Verge Magazine text mentions no partnership, and "Grand Theft Getaway" is a nod to the series, not a licence. Entry conditions, eligible countries and the closing date are not in the text we have, so check Generator's page before nominating anyone.
Nothing changes for the game, still set for 19 November on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S (see the release page). But it says something about the launch: it looks big enough for travel brands to sell the silence it will demand at home. How many relatives will leave without wondering what they are being kept away from is another question.
