Three quarters of pre-orders would go to Sony. MCE TV, attributing the figure to JeuxVideo.com, reports that 74% of GTA 6 pre-orders are on PS5 against 26% on Xbox Series. MCE TV stresses that Rockstar Games has released no official pre-order figure, so this is a trend relayed by the press, not studio data.
No surprise, per MCE TV. The PS5 has outsold the Xbox Series in many countries since 2020, which inflates the pool of players ready to pre-order a blockbuster. Rockstar also has a long-standing marketing partnership with Sony on major releases, as with GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2. It shows today in the 22% jump in US PS5 sales in September.
Nothing says so. MCE TV relays JeuxVideo.com's reasoning: with a smaller buyer base, the Xbox version will be watched closely on technical and visual grounds. Rockstar has announced no performance or rendering difference between the two consoles, whose architectures are close. Only the first comparisons at launch will settle it.

Treat them with caution. Method, period and scope are unknown: one retailer, one region, the whole world? The 6.45 million pre-orders mentioned elsewhere, covered in our pre-orders article, come from a different source and carry no per-console split.
For an Xbox player, nothing concrete: release stays November 19 on both machines, with preload from November 12. Beyond that, the split mostly shows where GTA 6's audience sits before launch. Whether the gap holds in official sales figures remains to be seen, and none exist yet.
