The headset is timed with the game. According to GAMINGbible, the wireless PlayStation Pulse arrives on November 19, the day GTA 6 launches on PS5 and Xbox Series. Pre-orders open October 29 in White or Midnight Black, at $99.99 (€99.99, £89.99).

A mid-range headset that looks like an update of the Pulse 3D released with the PS5 in 2020. GAMINGbible, citing the PlayStation Blog, says it borrows two features from the pricier Pulse Elite: planar magnetic drivers and PlayStation Link wireless. The hidden mic has AI noise rejection and the earcups now rotate for easier storage. Some players already worry that the slimmer headband will feel flimsy. A further model, the Pulse Edge, is due in 2027.
Nothing says the older Pulse 3D is being pulled. GAMINGbible only speculates.
No. The game works with any headset or TV speakers. But the game's PlayStation Store listing, the outlet notes, highlights PS5 Tempest 3D audio, adaptive triggers, the DualSense speaker and PS5 Pro optimisation. Every PlayStation headset already supports 3D audio, launch-era ones included. The Pulse is an option aimed at players without an official headset, not a requirement.

In a city like Vice City, sound matters: an engine passing behind you, a radio fading in a tunnel, footsteps in an alley. The timing is no accident either, since Sony and Rockstar run a joint campaign and the headset lands on launch day. DualSense and PS5 Pro features are covered in our dedicated piece.
Confirmed: date, price, colours, pre-order opening. Unknown: whether Rockstar tuned its mix for this headset, and whether Sony will sell a bundle with the game. Neither has been announced. For the game itself, see our price page and September's jump in PS5 sales.
For most players, nothing changes: the gear already at home will do. For those wanting a new headset before November 19, there is now an official $99.99 model released the same day as the game. A scheduling detail, but a telling one about how much GTA 6 weighs for PlayStation.
