Rockstar tells Bloomberg GTA 6 has hundreds of interiors you can enter without a loading screen, from banks to gyms, though not every building will open.

Can you walk into every building in Leonida? No, but into a lot of them. According to JeuxVideo.com, relaying a demo given to Bloomberg's Jason Schreier at Rockstar North in Scotland, GTA 6 will have "hundreds" of interiors, reachable almost instantly from the street.

Rob Nelson, a development lead at Rockstar North, put it this way: "There are so many of these little interiors, hundreds, that you can go explore." No exact number was given and not everything opens, so the decorative facades many players disliked in GTA V do not vanish entirely. JeuxVideo.com suggests some places may follow opening hours tied to the day/night cycle. That is the outlet's inference, not a Rockstar statement.
Examples are everyday spots: banks, corner shops, gas station back rooms, and a gym where Lucia uses a treadmill while Jason does squats.
Scouting becomes gameplay. Walking into a bank to count the guards, then giving up for a gas station, is the "improvised crime" described in the presentation. In a shop you can slip through the back room, disable the alarm by hand and empty the till quietly.

Money also becomes physical. "Your money is vulnerable," Nelson explains: what the characters carry can be lost to police or gangs, hence the need for ATMs and safe spots. "We tried to make money matter more than ever."
Large malls with several entrances and exits help break police line of sight. Since the law identifies Jason and Lucia as a duo, the tactic reported is to split up inside and leave by different doors. How the wanted system works in detail is still unknown.
Nelson calls it a "completely new" way to play GTA, solo or with someone. It fits what Rockstar has said about detail work, as in our piece on the weapon wheel, drawn from the same Bloomberg report.
The promise is measured: hundreds of interiors, not a fully open city. Whether they serve the story or missions is unanswered. GTA 6 still launches November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Dates and editions are on our release page.
