Sony released PS5 update 26.07-14.20.00 on October 21. According to MP1st it weighs 1.2 GB and adds nothing visible for players. Its interest lies elsewhere: it follows the hacking of firmware 14.10 by the homebrew community, less than a month before GTA 6.

MP1st notes that firmware 14.10, released earlier this month, is required to go online. It has since been hacked. The site also writes that GTA 6 has been reported to require version 26.07-14.10 to run on PS5. Sony has not commented, as is usual on this topic.
The jailbreak is, per MP1st, neither public nor shared in the community. But the risk is plain for Sony and Take-Two: the biggest launch in video game history being playable illegally, especially since, MP1st says, some PS5 games now run on PC without an emulator.
MP1st suggests this could be one reason behind a rumour that Take-Two is targeting a PC release in Q1 2027, less than six months after consoles. To be clear: it is a rumour relayed by a single outlet here, and Rockstar has announced no PC version. The link between piracy and a PC schedule is MP1st's hypothesis, not a fact. MP1st expects Sony to ship another firmware soon if this one is compromised too. With a Sony and Take-Two co-marketing deal, PS5 should take most of the sales. The date does not move: GTA 6 launches on November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with preload on November 12.
For PS5 players, nothing to do except keep the console updated before November 19. For the schedule, nothing official. Still unknown: the exact firmware version the game will require at launch, and any PC date.
