Take-Two says GTA 6 was made without generative AI, but as Martin Cid Magazine notes, that promise stops at consoles: on PC, players can open the game files.

I have grumbled for weeks about the missing PC version, but Martin Cid Magazine points to a consequence I had not considered: Take-Two's "no generative AI" promise will not survive the move to desktop.

According to Martin Cid Magazine, drawing on ESPN and GamesIndustry.biz, Strauss Zelnick said generative AI "has absolutely no role in what Rockstar Games builds", describing worlds shaped "building by building, street by street, neighborhood by neighborhood". At a CNBC event last autumn he also argued that AI-made intellectual property "is not protectable" and the results would be "pretty derivative", per PCGamesN as cited by the magazine. Take-Two runs hundreds of AI pilot projects elsewhere in the company: the line is drawn between creation and everything else.
The magazine adds that the message also reassures investors, coming after Google's Project Genie announcement and a dip in video game stocks, Take-Two's included.
On console the game is a sealed box. On PC the files can be opened and players pick their own tools, AI included. The magazine concludes the publisher's promise "cannot travel with the game" that far. That is reasoning, not an announcement: no PC version is official. We already noted that GamesBeat points to Q1 2027, with no reply from Rockstar. For GTA V, the gap between consoles (September 2013) and PC (April 2015) was about nineteen months.

Martin Cid recalls that Rockstar banned the FiveM team in 2015, calling it an "unauthorized alternate multiplayer service", per Game World Observer. Eight years later that team, Cfx.re, became "officially part of Rockstar Games" on undisclosed terms, and the mod policy was widened to cover community role-play creations (80 Level). Whether Rockstar takes that approach on day one for PC, or years later, is open.
Nothing changes for November 19: on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S the world stays Rockstar's. But the mod and AI question arrives as soon as PC is dated, and it is not. Our release page tracks what is confirmed, and PC is not on it.
