Which machine will people play GTA 6 on? Digital Foundry asked its YouTube audience: after 30,000 votes, nearly 80% of respondents will play on PS5 or PS5 Pro, with 36% for the Pro and 43% for the base console.

What does the Digital Foundry poll show?

The remaining 20-odd percent go to Xbox, per Digital Foundry: 17% on Series X and only 4% on Series S. The author admits he expected a bigger share for the cheaper, more available base PS5, but thinks his audience has more enthusiasts willing to pay for stronger hardware.

Read these figures for what they are: a YouTube poll of a technical audience, not a representative sample. It still echoes the PlayStation lead Sensor Tower sees in pre-orders (74% of the total).

What about a PC version?

The poll drew 1,800 comments, and Digital Foundry notes the vast majority either say they are not interested or plan to play on PC, through an official port or a community recompilation. Rockstar has announced no PC version. The outlet recalls that the studio has historically released its sequels on PC one to two years after consoles.

A rumor points to PC as early as Q1 2027, but Digital Foundry says it has little basis so far. We previously covered the PC emulation a PS5 hacker is aiming for.

What to expect at launch?

Digital Foundry asks readers for their predictions and is waiting to see how each platform handles the game. Nothing has been announced on resolution or performance for PS5 Pro, PS5 and Xbox Series.

Why it matters

No new fact about the game, but a usage signal: among players who follow tech, the PS5 Pro counts almost as much as the base console. Pressure shifts to the comparisons the outlet will publish after November 19, and to the PC question, still unanswered by Rockstar.
