Bloomberg's Jason Schreier, who saw the game in Edinburgh, shares an impression of the story's tone. According to eXputer, relaying his newsletter, GTA 6 feels closer to Red Dead Redemption 2 than to GTA V. This is a journalist's view, not a Rockstar announcement.

What did Jason Schreier write?

Per eXputer, Schreier replayed the opening hour of the 2013 GTA V and came away tired of its "sour nihilism", characters who mostly insult and yell at each other. He contrasts that with Jason and Lucia, whose story he describes as about two people who genuinely enjoy spending time together. He welcomes the shift.

Has Rockstar said anything similar?

Yes. eXputer recalls that Rob Nelson, co-head of Rockstar North, told TroisCouleurs earlier this year the team wanted GTA 6 to carry the emotional depth and connection players felt with Arthur Morgan in Red Dead Redemption 2. We already covered Lucia's comparison with Arthur Morgan and Niko Bellic. The site adds that the couple's relationship is the center of the story, whereas GTA V relied on three loosely connected protagonists, Michael, Franklin and Trevor.

What reservations remain?

Schreier himself wonders, again per eXputer, whether new systemic features such as evolved NPC interactions and relationship systems stay engaging over a long playthrough or end up feeling like a novelty. He has shared other observations, such as sweat changing with effort. Nobody has played the full game: the impression rests on a studio visit.

Why it matters

Nothing changes in the facts: release on November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with everything on our release page. But tone matters. If the story is about a duo who like each other rather than a trio who do not, GTA 6 shifts register, and that is what the reviews, expected before launch, will have to confirm.
