What does the new Sensor Tower estimate say?

PlayStation accounts for 74% of the total: 4.80 million copies and $468 million. Xbox follows with 1.66 million copies and $162 million, per Pause Hardware. On October 13 the same source had 6.08 million units for $594 million, so roughly 370,000 more players pre-ordered in seven days.

Be careful comparing with older numbers. Pause Hardware points out that Sensor Tower adjusted its estimation model on October 5, so the 4.86 million pre-orders of late August, 77% of them on PlayStation, cannot be compared directly with recent readings.

Are the $630 million official figures?

No. 4WeAreGamers, relaying Insider Gaming, stresses that Take-Two has released no official pre-sale number and that Sensor Tower works from digital sales estimates. Physical editions may not be counted.

In the US, digital pre-orders are 148% above Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2022) at the same distance from launch, reports Pause Hardware. We covered that comparison in our piece on the 6.08 million pre-orders.

Which edition are players picking?

Sensor Tower says the vast majority bought the Ultimate edition at 99.99 euros, digital only, in line with what Strauss Zelnick hinted in August, according to Pause Hardware. Prices are listed on our price page.

The outlet adds that Xbox's smaller share may reflect the size of the installed base, as Microsoft console sales in the US hit a record low this year, as much as player preference.

Why it matters

Nothing changes for the game itself: it launches November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with preload opening November 12. But a pace of 370,000 reservations a week hints at the wave about to hit stores and servers in a month. Whether preload pushes the curve higher, nobody can say yet.
