A detail few players ever noticed may be gone. Gameblog reports that Digital Foundry, in its video breakdown of GTA 6 Trailer 3, no longer finds the animation stutter that has accompanied Rockstar games since GTA IV.

What stutter are we talking about?

It is a series of micro-hitches in character movement and camera motion. Gameblog says they give Rockstar productions a slight stop-motion look, from GTA IV through Red Dead Redemption 2. Most players never complained, since the staging covers it. Digital Foundry's analysts spot it immediately.

What did Digital Foundry see in Trailer 3?

Per Gameblog, the flaw was still visible in the first GTA 6 videos. It is absent from Trailer 3 from start to finish, which has not happened in a very long time. The French site reads this as a possible sign of continued polishing since the presentation shown in late August, after eighteen years of the RAGE engine.

Caution applies. Gameblog says so itself: the trailer only shows selected sequences, and the lack of stutter could be a happy accident of editing. A trailer is a rendered, edited video, not a live play session. Rockstar has not confirmed any engine fix.

What we already know about the game's look

Recent Rockstar interviews stress the scale of the technical work, such as the hundreds of explorable interiors or the sweat system reported by Bloomberg. Fluidity is now part of that conversation.

Why it matters

Nothing decisive before launch on November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. But Digital Foundry's observation sets one thing to check with a controller in hand: on-foot movement and camera motion. If the flaw is truly gone, it will be one of the first technical gains players feel without being able to name it. A definitive answer comes in a month, with the first reviews.
