GTA 6 received Japan's top CERO Z rating, with only "Violence" and "Crime" icons shown. Rockstar has said nothing about a modified version.

GTA 6 is rated CERO Z in Japan, the organization's highest tier, restricted to adults 18 and over. La Crème du Gaming, citing Notebookcheck, notes that the Japanese PlayStation Store and Xbox Store listings show only "Violence" and "Crime", with no sex or drug descriptors.
Nothing official says so. Rockstar has not commented on the listings, and CERO Z does not guarantee cuts. The gap is puzzling though: the official Grand Theft Auto VI site mentions adult content, and trailers show intimate scenes between Jason and Lucia. According to La Crème du Gaming, some read it as a tamer build submitted to CERO, others as an incomplete listing.
The comparison is telling, per the same article. The US ESRB gave Mature 17+ for blood, nudity, strong sexual content, strong language, drugs and alcohol. Australia's Classification Board rated it R 18+ for high-impact violence, sex scenes and drug use. In Europe, a PEGI 18 description that circulated mentions on-demand cocaine use. PEGI 18 itself is confirmed for launch, as our release page notes, but we have not seen those descriptors officially published.
The worry comes from history: at its Japanese release, GTA V lost a Trevor sex scene and showed less nudity, according to Notebookcheck as cited by La Crème du Gaming. Nothing says GTA 6 will follow.

For now, nothing concrete: the game launches November 19, 2026 everywhere, and the Japanese version remains to be documented. Any differences would surface in the days after launch. We will follow Rockstar's listings and Japanese player reports.
