Is a GTA 6 leak unprecedented? Not quite. Polygon goes back to 2013: weeks before GTA V's release, the game became playable ahead of its official date, which the outlet judges worse than the GTA 6 videos circulating today.

According to Polygon, it began with a PlayStation Store snafu that let preorder customers reach some of the game's files. At first it looked minor. The data revealed the install size on PS3 and listed soundtrack songs, and strategy guides showed the map early. Rockstar said it was "deeply disappointed" by the leaks and spoilers, in a blog post the outlet quotes.
Sony then pulled the preload and apologized to Rockstar and players. Later, per Polygon, the game was uploaded to torrent sites, letting people with jailbroken consoles play for free. Rockstar and Sony had to warn that spoiling the story could get players banned.
Polygon stresses that the context differs. The 2013 GTA V was, as far as anyone could tell, the finished game, pirated shortly before launch. The GTA 6 Cyberleek claims to hold would more likely be an older build with dev tools, and that is unverified. We have followed these threats from the start: see the announced end of the leaks, with no build.

The outlet adds that Rockstar does not plan a physical disc and that it is unclear whether a PC version would only be streamable. Those details come from Polygon's text and we have not cross-checked them; no PC version is announced.
Technically nothing: the game launches November 19, with preloading on the 12th. But 2013 shows risk can come from distribution chains, not only pirates. The November 12 preload deserves a close watch; follow our release page.
