The launch trailer passed 24 million views in under a day, and part of the audience finds it less pretty than the earlier ones. JeuxVideo.com says many players talk of a "downgrade" and a game that looks "too blurry". Rockstar has not responded, notes GeeksLands.

On Reddit and X, side-by-side edits pair shots from the launch trailer with the second trailer from May 2025. According to JeuxVideo.com, Jason and Lucia's faces look smoother and sometimes stiff, scenery less detailed, and crowd density slightly revised. One point gets near-unanimous agreement: the video seems to carry a filter that dulls the colors. The site also notes that some things, like strands of hair, look better handled.
One Reddit user quoted by GamingBible finds the video "much bloomier and yellower" than the last one. Another feels someone "smeared Vaseline" on the screen, reports GeeksLands.

GeeksLands pulled frames from both videos in 4K. The second trailer opens on the Keys at midday under a blue sky. The launch trailer returns there with a pickup towing a jet ski, but under a low sun facing the camera. That backlight crushes contrast and whitens the sky. Many of the circulating comparisons therefore pit scenes shot at different times of day, sometimes with other vehicles and outfits. The author of one of the most shared posts, 4,198 likes when checked, concedes it is "probably a different time of day".
Bitrate matters too: roughly 12 megabits per second in 4K on YouTube, per GeeksLands, enough to smear fine detail in a hazy scene. As for the filter, JeuxVideo.com recalls that Rockstar routinely applies one to its trailers, for mood or for visual consistency across different screens.
Another observation points the other way. Citing Digital Foundry, GamesRadar+ says the launch trailer shows no sign of the animation stutter that has affected Rockstar games since GTA IV, though it appeared in every earlier video, including the extended look. The site admits Rockstar may simply have picked unaffected scenes, but finds it unlikely, since the developers say they tweak the game until the last minute, as covered in our piece on Phil Hooker.
Both videos carry the label "captured entirely in-game on PlayStation 5". For the second, a spokesperson told GameSpot it was a standard PS5. For the new one, Rockstar has not said whether a PS5 Pro was used, notes GeeksLands, and the note about a mix of gameplay and cutscenes is gone.
Nothing verifiable yet: no edit replaces the finished game. Preloading opens November 12 and release is set for the 19th, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. We will come back to the real look as soon as there are reviews and non-trailer footage. The launch trailer remains on Rockstar's channel, and our release page keeps the date current.
