GTA 6 has not yet gone gold a month before its November 19 release, Notebookcheck reports citing Bloomberg; Sony and Microsoft certification is expected before the preload.

One month before launch, GTA 6 has not yet gone gold. That is what Notebookcheck reports, drawing on Jason Schreier's Bloomberg investigation and on comments from Phil Hooker, Rockstar's chief technology officer.

Going gold means locking the reference build, the one that goes to manufacturing and that platform holders certify. According to Notebookcheck, that final build is expected to get Microsoft and Sony certification for Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and PS5 Pro in the coming weeks, ahead of the November 12 preload. Until then, teams are still fixing bugs and tuning details.
That is not an alarm bell. A game this large stays in progress very late, and a gold build a month out from a November 19 release is not unusual. But Rockstar has confirmed none of this timeline on its Newswire: it is press reporting, not an announcement.
In the interview relayed by Notebookcheck, Hooker says work goes on to the very end: "The game is never completely frozen. We never have a precise plan. Even in the last few months, we changed things." We already covered that line in our Phil Hooker article.

The same piece tells an anecdote that shows the scale of the open world: while testing one specific mission, Hooker got distracted for two hours by pedestrians, vehicles and shops he met along the way. In his telling, the delay from May 26 to November 19 comes from a huge web of interlocking systems, not internal missteps.
Notebookcheck's text also mentions a PC version in Q1 2027. Rockstar has never announced a PC version: today the game is confirmed only on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and we do not repeat that claim. The certification material comes from Bloomberg and still needs Rockstar's confirmation.
For players, no date moves: release on November 19, preload on November 12, as recapped on our release page. The useful question is about day one: a launch patch remains likely, since the team keeps adjusting the game until the last moment. The unlock time is still unknown.
