What exactly did Activision say?

The quote, reported by Gameblog: "No offense to Zelda, GTA 6 and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 are the two biggest games of the year." Bahl sees an indirect benefit: more people dusting off their PlayStation or Xbox means a wider audience for Call of Duty. He adds that the series lasts because of its community and social side. It is marketing talk and should be read that way.

What does the November calendar look like?

Per Gameblog, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 launches October 23, 2026, including day one on Nintendo Switch 2, a first for the series. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake arrives November 5, two weeks before GTA 6 on November 19. Nintendo chose to face the window most publishers avoided, as we covered in our November calendar.

Does the argument hold?

Bahl has a point: Modern Warfare 4 is multiplatform, while the Zelda remake stays tied to Nintendo's ecosystem. Gameblog also notes the franchise has declined in recent years. No sales figure appears in the interview as reported. For GTA 6 nothing changes: November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, see the release page.

Why it matters

For players, nothing direct. But Activision is not running from GTA 6, it is betting on the spillover: when millions of consoles power on for Rockstar, Call of Duty hopes to benefit. Whether the Zelda audience stays on Switch 2 on November 5 remains to be seen.
