Ninety seconds, and already questions. Rockstar's launch trailer (our article) has been combed through by IGN, which lists 33 details, and by SVG. Here are the ones that tell us something about the story.

Who is Jason, really?

Midway through, Jason wears a U.S. Army T-shirt. IGN reads the name of a training school in North Fort Law, the military base from the very first GTA, and the word "Marauder", matching the skull-and-parachute tattoo already seen on his arm. The Marauders would be his unit. IGN sees a possible nod to Merrill's Marauders, a 1940s elite force whose modern equivalent is the 75th Ranger Regiment. That is IGN's hypothesis, not Rockstar's confirmation.

Jason's voice adds another piece: "I got in some trouble in the army, didn't leave on the best of terms. They don't give loans, anything, to people like me." A former soldier with no safety net, which explains what follows.

What do the missions show?

Several shots look like commando work. Jason wades through a swamp with two men, night-vision goggles on his head and a silenced rifle, in what looks like the Grass Rivers, Leonida's Everglades. SVG concludes at least one mission will use a night-vision view. A reptile resembling a komodo dragon, a species from Indonesia, puzzles IGN: flashback or scenery, unknown.

Lucia fires a grenade launcher at police cars while hanging from a cargo net, before what seems to be a helicopter dragging a load through a skyscraper. IGN notes hundreds of glass shards, which does not prove Battlefield-style destruction. SVG counts at least four helicopter scenes, a minigun, and a dirt bike jump off a ramp around 0:48: possibly the return of GTA V's stunt jumps, unconfirmed on screen.

Why it matters

Nothing is official beyond the footage, but the trailer paints a more professional Jason than the robber of the first trailer, and a game where planning a job matters. SVG also reads the shared shower scene as proof that Jason and Lucia's relationship can turn romantic, depending on player choices. We will check all of it on November 19, not before. If you spotted something else, the Wall is open.
