GTA 6 reviews will go live before you can play the game. That is the claim from Insider Gaming, which says it learned that press reviews will be published ahead of the November 19 release. The outlet knows the preliminary embargo date but will not share it, since it may still change.

Will GTA 6 have reviews before launch?

Yes, according to Insider Gaming. It writes that plenty of players assumed the game would not be reviewed at all, given how little it seems to need them, but that reviews will land before November 19. Rockstar has confirmed nothing: there is no official schedule for review copies, no embargo time and no list of outlets. So this is a single-outlet report, credible but to be treated with that caution.

What we still do not know

The exact date is unknown, and Insider Gaming itself says it could move. We cannot tell whether scores will arrive a week, three days or the day before release. We also do not know whether preloading, which opens on November 12, will come before or after the embargo lifts. For anyone still deciding whether to pay €79.99 for the standard edition, the window will be short either way.

The article also sets the scene: GTA 6 is billed as the most anticipated game ever, with estimates of up to 50 million copies sold in a week. That figure is a projection quoted by the outlet, not data from Rockstar or Take-Two. It also mentions the rumor of a PC version in the first quarter of 2027, covered in our GamesBeat piece. No PC version has been announced so far.

Why reviews matter even for a game you already bought

Many players have already paid. But reviews do something else: they describe the actual state of the game at launch, performance on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, campaign length, what Leonida is like with a controller in hand. After years of trailers and, since August, leaks, it is the first time journalists will say what they played, in their own words. Our preview roundup listed the questions those texts will have to settle.

The full calendar stays on the release page.

Why it matters

For the date, very little: the game still ships November 19. But if Insider Gaming is right, players will be able to read reviews before launch and not just social media reactions. What remains unknown is the exact hour they will appear, and nobody is allowed to say.
