One rule holds for everyone: GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and nothing else. According to GAMINGbible, a "PS5 Pro Enhanced" version also exists, but modes, frame rate and resolution are unconfirmed. Here is what you can decide today, and what remains open.

The PS5 (standard, Digital or Pro) and the Xbox Series X and S. Nothing for PS4 or Xbox One, as we covered here. No PC version is announced either, and GAMINGbible adds that Switch 2 is not planned and that Xbox cloud gaming will not act as a route to PC, citing an Xbox executive. Our Xbox Cloud Gaming piece has the background.
Honestly, nobody knows yet. GAMINGbible notes that neither Rockstar nor Sony has detailed PS5 Pro improvements. The same outlet relays Rockstar's line that the game "plays best on PS5", without saying what that covers. On price and supply the picture is less friendly: GameStop listed the console at $899.99 new, unavailable (our price report), and Sony reportedly told retailers supply would stay limited until 2027 (our shortage story). Buying a Pro just for November 19 means betting on an upgrade no official document quantifies.
Yes, but not in Europe. According to GTA BOOM, Sony is releasing a Midnight Black PS5 Digital Edition on November 19 at 55,000 yen, around $350, with pre-orders opening October 20. The outlet stresses it is Japan only: Japanese system language and a Japanese PlayStation Network account are required. We wrote a full piece on it. For a reader in France it is not an option.

The game is confirmed on Series X and Series S, but none of the sources we read compares the two machines on GTA 6. No resolution or performance figure has been published, so do not expect a known gap between X and S before launch.
If you already own a PS5 or an Xbox Series, change nothing: the game is built for them. Preload starts November 12 and the file size is unconfirmed, so free up disk space rather than buy new hardware. All dates are on the release page. We will update this piece as soon as Rockstar or Sony detail the PS5 Pro version.
