Eight years separate Red Dead Redemption 2 from GTA 6, and Rockstar insists it will not happen again. In the Bloomberg interview relayed by GamesIndustry.biz, leadership says the game will serve as a foundation for producing content faster.

"The engine, the tools and the team we've built during this project will allow us to do things more quickly," says co-head of development Phil Hooker, quoted by GamesIndustry.biz. He adds he is confident they can build on top of it and go "more sideways than upwards" to make more compelling content. In other words: extend what exists rather than rebuild. Shacknews carries the same promise, with no date or announced title.
Per GamesIndustry.biz, Rockstar had 2,441 employees when RDR2 launched in 2018. In 2026 it employs 4,711 across 12 offices, 4,020 of them in development and QA and 690 in publishing. The schedule moved too: announced in 2023 for 2025, GTA 6 went to May 2026 and then to November 19, the site recalls. We summarized the rest of the report in our Bloomberg piece.
What nobody says is which game this is. Numerama headlines the idea that the next project won't arrive eight years later, nothing more. No name, release window or platform appears in the sources we read.

Nothing changes for November 19, but it signals what comes next: the GTA 6 engine is framed as an investment spread over several games. For a community that waited twelve years between GTA V and GTA 6, that is a commitment, not a date. The release information remains that of GTA 6, and only the game itself will show whether the method holds.
