One week before GTA 6, Nintendo has a release of its own. Polygon reports that Pikmin 4: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy arrives on November 12, 2026, seven days ahead of Rockstar's November 19 launch. The site calls the timing unexpected, since publishers usually steer clear of the weeks around a release this size.
Not a new game, but the Switch 2 version of Pikmin 4, which came out on the first Switch on July 21, 2023. According to Polygon, the edition adds improved visuals, voice commands for Oatchi the space pup, a set of "exams" at Dandori Academy, and two-player split-screen Dandori Battles through GameShare, even for a friend who does not own the game.
Polygon notes that November 19 will be an event and that plenty of players may call in sick or take the week off. Its writer has not played GTA 6 and bets its developers aimed at emotions other than joy. The reading: two publishers going after very different audiences, so little head-on competition. That is Polygon's view; neither Nintendo nor Rockstar has commented.
One reminder for our readers: GTA 6 is not coming to Switch 2. As we covered in our platforms piece, there is no PS4 or Xbox One version, and the only opening on the Nintendo side is a "conversation" between Take-Two and Rockstar, nothing more. Full dates are on our release page.

Nothing changes for GTA 6, still due November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. For Switch 2 owners, it is a game to finish before the wave hits. For the calendar, it is one more sign that November is being planned around the 19th, with publishers choosing to go before rather than against it. Still unknown: GTA 6's unlock time and the real effect on other releases.
