Asked by Variety, the president of Nintendo of America passed the question on to the publishers. “That’s going to be a conversation for Take-Two and Rockstar, but nothing to announce on my end at this time,” Devon Pritchard said, as quoted by IGN and DualShockers. In short: nothing announced, and it is not Nintendo’s call.
The wording is careful. It confirms no Switch 2 port, mentions no talks, and does not shut the door either. DualShockers reads it as a possible opening while noting that the decision belongs to Take-Two and Rockstar. KultureGeek points out that Rockstar has only confirmed PS5 and Xbox Series X|S for November 19.
In the same interview Pritchard stressed Nintendo’s line: “We have historically said that Nintendo is for ages 5 to 95,” with a wish for a diversity of experiences on the system. That hardly gives a timetable for a PEGI 18 game.
The technical debate is open. IGN notes that the Switch 2 runs Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 remaster, and that GTA 6 is already coming to the weaker Xbox Series S. KultureGeek adds a caveat: docked, Nintendo’s console sits close to the Series S but remains the least powerful machine of the group, and Rockstar might judge the experience short of its standards.

Rockstar does have history on Nintendo hardware: IGN lists Red Dead Redemption, L.A. Noire and The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition on Switch already. Nothing has been announced for Red Dead Redemption 2. The Trilogy is also a reminder that ports can go wrong, as its rough 2021 launch showed.
We know the game launches on November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, that preload starts November 12 and that no PC version is announced. A Switch 2 port is unknown territory. Launch pricing is laid out on our price page.
For November 19, nothing changes. The statement mostly shows that Nintendo has no file to defend and that Rockstar’s schedule remains Rockstar’s. If a Switch 2 version ever exists, it will come from Rockstar and Take-Two, not from an interview. Until then, port talk stays talk.
