Rockstar has put names on the voices that will run GTA 6's radio. According to Consequence, the line-up includes Bad Bunny, Lana Del Rey and her husband Jeremy Dufrene, Robyn, Slayer's Kerry King and Tom Araya, Burna Boy, Trick Daddy and Morgan Wallen. Kotaku says the information comes from Rolling Stone and Pitchfork, published October 8, the day the six stations were unveiled.

Headliners on the mic

On Back Country Radio, a "renegade country" station, Morgan Wallen voices MW and Lana Del Rey voices Delta Dawne, reports Kotaku. Jeremy Dufrene, the singer's husband, plays Mud Dog Mike, whom Rockstar describes as the station's roving reporter, swamp meteorologist and Delta's not-so-secret lover. Speaking to Pitchfork, Lana Del Rey said that when her family first visited L.A., they already knew the roads from playing GTA V, and that she can't wait to play.

On the Latin side, per Kotaku, Bad Bunny and RaiNao host Cocoteo FM, while Rockstar's station page names the characters El Martillo and La Gata. RaiNao told Pitchfork the station "gets our vibe, our slang, our traditions". Flash FM, back from Vice City, pairs Robyn with model Alex Consani. Burna Boy co-hosts AfroBank FM with DJ Palms Trax, and Trick Daddy and Trina run Dirty South Classics.

Metal is back

This is the station rock fans are talking about. DualShockers recalls that GTA V had nothing like the Liberty City Hardcore of The Lost and Damned, and welcomes a dedicated metal station with The Chamber 106.6, hosted by Tom Araya and Kerry King, renamed DJ Tom and DJ Kerry. The preview on the Newswire mixes Black Sabbath's "I", Pantera's "I'm Broken" and Slayer's "Raining Blood". The outlet is now waiting to see the rest of the playlist.

Another novelty cited by Kotaku: on-demand podcasts for Jason and Lucia. Radio and podcasts can be played in cars, but also through headphones or earbuds linked to the character's smartphone, which means music even on foot. The same site says the soundtrack already counted more than 70 songs spotted in leaks and trailers.

Why it matters

Rockstar is leaning on celebrity casting, which GTA V used only sparingly: the sound line-up becomes a selling point of its own, six weeks before November 19. It remains to be seen how many tracks each station will play and whether podcasts will be free. All stations and previews are on our music page.
