The co-founder of Kingdom Come: Deliverance sees the GTA 6 launch as a chance to raise the price ceiling. It is an industry view, not a Rockstar decision.

Martin Klíma, co-founder of Warhorse Studios, the team behind Kingdom Come: Deliverance, hopes GTA 6 will "pave the way" for more expensive games. That is what French outlet JeuxVideo.com reports, citing an interview with PC Gamer. The context: Rockstar's game costs 79.99 € for the standard edition and 99.99 € for Ultimate.
According to JeuxVideo.com, Klíma argues that development costs keep rising while the number of players cannot grow forever, and that digital distribution has already recovered the share once taken by retailers. One lever remains: "The last thing you can do is raise the price". He admits publishers are afraid to go first. He also says he is not a GTA fan himself, which makes his plea look less self-interested than others.

JeuxVideo.com recalls that the rise did not wait for Rockstar: 70 € took hold on PS5 and Xbox Series, Nintendo sells Mario Kart World at 80 €, and Microsoft had announced it wanted to price some first-party games there. Our price comparison lives on the prices page.
The reasoning is simple: a publisher raising prices alone invites player anger, but if one of the biggest launches in history sets 80 € without slowing sales, the risk drops for everyone who follows. JeuxVideo.com sees possible normalisation as early as 2027. That is a projection by the article's author and Klíma, not a known plan from Rockstar or its rivals.
Rockstar has not changed its prices: GTA VI launches on November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with preload on November 12, PEGI 18, 79.99 € standard and 99.99 € Ultimate. The Goodtime State collector costs 399.99 € and does not include the game. No PC version is announced.
For players nothing is immediate: GTA 6's price is set. But the debate over what its success would mean for the rest of the market has begun. If sales hold at this price, other publishers may follow. A lukewarm reception would dampen any urge to go above 80 €, and the public will decide.
