An anonymous post from December 2023 resurfaces and credits Rockstar with a new L.A. Noire set in San Francisco. Its author was right about GTA 6's four protagonists.

With GTA 6 about six weeks from launch, the "what comes next" question is already circulating. According to Journal du Geek, an old leak resurfaced on September 29 and points to a franchise many thought buried: L.A. Noire. Let me be clear about its status: this is a rumor, with no confirmation from Rockstar.

It originates from an anonymous message posted on 4chan in December 2023, later relayed on GTA Forums by a user named Shahanshah. Per Journal du Geek, it claims Rockstar is working on L.A. Noire 2, at a very early stage. The action would no longer take place in 1947 Los Angeles but in San Francisco, around the case of the Zodiac Killer, who was never identified. The author adds that Rockstar wants to push facial capture very far, following the MotionScan technology of the 2011 original, aiming for one of the most photorealistic games of its kind.
The same source explains that the leak's credit rests on a cross-check: in that 2023 post, the author claimed GTA 6 was originally meant to have four playable characters before Rockstar refocused on Jason and Lucia. Rob Nelson, co-head of Rockstar North, recently confirmed that the studio did consider four protagonists before deciding against it, to avoid diluting playtime. The leaker also reportedly described the relationship between Jason and Lucia and the criminal profile system correctly, again per Journal du Geek.
One correct detail does not make the rest true. Most of the post concerns story spoilers that cannot be checked before any such game exists, and it is nearly three years old: a studio's plans change in three years. Journal du Geek also recalls that the original L.A. Noire's director now runs Rockstar Australia, which feeds the discussion without proving anything.
For other community hypotheses, the discussion thread is on the community page.
Rockstar has announced nothing about a new L.A. Noire. The news remains GTA 6, due November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, preload on November 12, PEGI 18, €79.99 standard and €99.99 Ultimate. No PC version has been announced, and nothing has been said about another upcoming game either.
For now, nothing concrete: it is an old post with a single validated cross-check. Its real value is a reminder of how a credible leak works, with one verifiable fact and the rest unverifiable. File it under "worth watching, not worth believing".
