Rockstar is silent on GTA 6's online mode, so a partner is speaking in its place. According to JeuxVideo.com, Twitch CEO Dan Clancy suggested at Tokyo Game Show, in an interview with Bloomberg, that multiplayer will not ship with the campaign on November 19, 2026. This is a third party's remark, not a studio announcement.
The executive says his teams spent a lot of time with Rockstar helping the studio plan how to mobilise content creators. In JeuxVideo.com's French rendering: "You will see a huge spike with GTA 6, then an even bigger one next year when they launch multiplayer." The site draws a two-step calendar from it, campaign in 2026, Online in 2027, which Rockstar has never publicly confirmed.
A week earlier, IGN France noted that we know "surprisingly little" about GTA Online's successor, even though the detailed Netflix showcase had revived the questions: a new version, a date, and the fate of the current Online. The logic is simple, since GTA Online remains a huge revenue source for Take-Two. Strauss Zelnick, the publisher's CEO, has said Take-Two supports its legacy titles as long as a community wants to play them, a remark JeuxVideo.com relays from IGN France.
The precedent argues for a staggered launch but not one this long: in 2013 GTA Online followed GTA V by about two weeks. Here the gap would be several months. JeuxVideo.com also recalls that Rockstar took over the FiveM team, which feeds the idea of online role-play with a strong Twitch presence.
Rockstar has still not detailed its online mode. What is confirmed: release on November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, preload on November 12, PEGI 18, €79.99 for the standard edition and €99.99 for Ultimate, and no PC version announced. Details are on our release page.
If the lead holds, people who want GTA 6 mainly for multiplayer will have to wait, and the campaign will be judged on its own. Until Rockstar speaks, we treat 2027 as a partner's hint, not a fact. The community Wall is already debating it.
