According to BFM, citing court documents obtained by TorrentFreak, Take-Two has filed a new DMCA subpoena request in its investigation into the GTA 6 leak. The publisher, which owns Rockstar, describes a case that is "evolving rapidly" and this time asks that the targets' identities stay confidential.

A quick recap: a preliminary and seemingly complete build of the game circulated two weeks before the extended gameplay look aired on Netflix. The leaker went by Cyberleek, promoted their own cryptocurrency during the leak, then vanished. Plenty of speculation has surrounded the identity, none of it confirmed. Our journal keeps a record of the earlier episodes.

Why keep it secret?

A DMCA subpoena lets a rights holder demand information about a user from a third party without suing anyone. Until now, writes BFM, Take-Two had used it against thousands of Discord users who had spread images and videos of the game one way or another. The new requests do not name their targets, on the grounds that publicity would tip off other people who may be involved. It is an investigator's logic: you do not warn the people you are looking for.

It is not all going Take-Two's way. According to the same piece, a request aimed at three Google accounts tied to the handles Cyberleeks, Surfer24K and Cyberleek_ar_io was not accepted by a judge, and Take-Two withdrew it, saying it "no longer needs the information requested". That leaves Discord, whose cooperation could be decisive. Its marketing lead Ryan Rigney said on August 24 that the company had received no subpoena yet and was "assessing legitimacy and scope" before replying.

What we don't know

We do not know who the targets are, what the requests contain, or whether Take-Two is closing in on an identity. BFM is blunt about it: the content of the filings is confidential for now. So nothing here counts as a breakthrough, only a procedure that is speeding up, by the publisher's own account.

What we know since

The game itself has not moved: GTA VI launches on November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with preload on November 12, rated PEGI 18, at €79.99 standard and €99.99 Ultimate. No PC version has been announced. The leak did not touch the schedule, and our release page remains the reference.

Why it matters

For players nothing changes in the short term: no delay, no patch tied to the case. But the signal is clear. Take-Two is not letting go and is switching to discretion, which suggests its lead is firmer than before. If you still see stolen footage circulating, caution applies: sharing it remains a risk, and that includes people in the Discord servers where it spread.
