Four days after the broadcast, we finally have figures. According to IGN, relaying data published by Netflix, "Grand Theft Auto 6: An Extended Look" racked up 31.1 million views over the week of August 24 to 30, ahead of the thriller The Whisper Man (23.2 million). The detail that matters: the video only landed on Thursday, so it had just three days in the measurement window.
Mind the method. Netflix defines a "view" as total hours watched divided by the runtime: one household watching a 27-minute video twice counts the same as two households watching once. YouTube counts a view as soon as playback starts. On Rockstar's channel the same video stood at 17 million views when IGN published, so the two figures cannot be compared. IGN France adds that it tops the English-language films category in 87 of the 93 countries tracked and sits 4th in France. Another detail from the same piece: Rockstar approached Netflix, not the other way around.
On the live side, Journal du Geek relies on StreamsCharts: co-streams and reaction shows on August 27 peaked at 3.97 million concurrent viewers, with more than 9,000 creators and 5.2 million hours watched. StreamsCharts also notes server trouble on Netflix and Twitch during the broadcast. Netflix has published nothing on its live audience. According to Sensor Tower, cited by the same outlet, Netflix app usage in the US rose 35% during the reveal hour, 50% above the previous day at the same time. GTA 6 pre-orders reportedly jumped 436%, PlayStation sales 606% and Xbox sales 127%. These are a research firm's estimates, not figures from Rockstar or Sony.

Rockstar did not need a traditional showcase: a streaming partner and a 27-minute trailer were enough to saturate two platforms. These records measure attention, though, not sales yet. The real test is actual pre-orders, for which no official figure exists.
GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with preloading on November 12, a PEGI 18 rating and prices of €79.99 (standard) and €99.99 (Ultimate). No PC version has been announced.
