Two trailers in three years, and tonight a proper screening. Rockstar Games presents "Grand Theft Auto 6: An Extended Look" on Thursday, August 27, a 26-minute presentation that lands on Netflix at 9 p.m. Paris time, according to Polygon. The official video page on Rockstar describes it only as "the next evolution of the groundbreaking Grand Theft Auto series". I will let you guess what the twenty-six minutes hold.
The oddest detail is not in the picture but in the channel. According to Polygon, this is the first time a game of this size has received this treatment from Netflix, which counts more than 325 million subscribers. Brandon Riegg, Netflix's VP of nonfiction series, says Grand Theft Auto reveals have become cultural moments of their own and that Rockstar chose the platform to debut the next part of the story with its members first.

The schedule is precise. The Netflix stream starts at 3 p.m. Eastern, which is 9 p.m. in Paris. The same footage reaches YouTube six hours later, at 9 p.m. in New York, so around 3 a.m. Friday in France. No subscription is needed to watch it afterwards, but the night will be short for anyone who wants to follow live.
Rockstar has said nothing about the content. Polygon recalls that leaks have already given fans an unsanctioned look at the game, and that tonight's showing will be far more polished and focused. A press preview appeared in Dazed on Wednesday, just before. At this stage we do not know whether gameplay sequences will be shown, or whether a pre-order date will be announced.

Reactions were strong as soon as it aired. According to IGN, players, streamers and developers praised the detail of the characters, the quality of the animation and the sheer number of activities on screen, with some saying the density of the world was beyond them. The showing also launched the rest of the calendar: release on November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, preloading on November 12, PEGI 18, €79.99 for the standard edition, €99.99 for the Ultimate, and no PC version announced.
That night Rockstar shifted the center of gravity of its communication: fewer trailers dropped on YouTube, more event appointments, with a partner that is not a games company. For the community it means longer footage to dissect and fresh material for the hidden clues we discuss in the site's journal. As for me, I am already looking at the reflections in the windows.
