Two gameplay clips, including Jason shooting hoops, and an image of the full map leaked. Immediate copyright takedowns suggest they are genuine.

The leak everyone dreaded landed in the middle of summer. According to IGN France, two videos that look like real GTA 6 gameplay were posted online, along with an image presented as the full map. Rockstar had made no comment at that point.
PC Gamer describes both sequences. In the first, the player, as Jason, shoots hoops outside his house: the ball and hoop are not static props, and the game appears to count successful shots. In the second, a reckless turn, a delivery truck, a fight that turns deadly, then a run from the police. For PC Gamer the dominant feeling is "more of the same GTA, only bigger", not a revolution. That is the outlet's own opinion, and the clips are too short to judge. What they do show is the level of small-scale detail Rockstar is known for, such as a ball that behaves like an object rather than a prop.

Nothing proves it formally. The strongest clue is that the videos are vanishing everywhere on copyright grounds, as PC Gamer points out. Nobody knows how recent the footage is either: an old build says little about the final version. On the leak side, IGN France reports that the group behind the posts threatens to continue unless Rockstar apologises for going all-digital. That is the group's version, and the studio has not endorsed it. Until Rockstar speaks, treat the map image with the same caution.
Rockstar did eventually respond. Per Kotaku, the studio posted a statement on Instagram calling the leaks "heartbreaking for our team", apologising for how long it took to share more, and pointing to the Netflix Extended Look the next day. Release is still November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, preload on November 12, PEGI 18, €79.99 standard and €99.99 Ultimate. No PC version has been announced.
A leak does not replace an official presentation, but it shifts the balance: the public saw fragments before Rockstar did. To see what the studio then showed itself, check our journal.
