It is the second time in six months that the date has moved. Rockstar Games announced on Thursday, November 6 that Grand Theft Auto VI will not arrive on May 26, 2026 but on Thursday, November 19, 2026, exactly six months later, as Variety and Polygon report. The news landed just before parent company Take-Two published its July-September quarterly results.
The studio's message is short. According to Polygon, Rockstar writes that the extra months will let it finish the game "with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve". It apologizes for adding time to what it knows has been a long wait, then repeats what it promises: the sprawling state of Leonida and a return to modern-day Vice City.

Some context helps. The first trailer, in December 2023, pointed to 2025. On May 2, 2025, Rockstar had already pushed the release to May 26, 2026, and Take-Two said soon after that no further delay was planned. That assurance no longer holds. Variety notes the move is exactly six months from the previous date.
What the studio leaves out matters as much. In the excerpts we read, there is nothing on a new trailer, nothing on pre-orders opening, nothing on a PC version. Several English-language outlets also point out that the shift reshuffles other late-2026 releases, which many publishers will now have to rework around GTA 6.

November 19, 2026 held. Take-Two reaffirmed it at its February and May 2026 earnings, and Rockstar has kept it. GTA 6 launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with preloading on November 12, a PEGI 18 rating, and prices of €79.99 for the standard edition and €99.99 for the Ultimate. No PC version has been announced.
For players it means six more months of waiting, but also a firm date that the studio and its publisher have since kept. The delay set the rule Rockstar has followed since: better to slip than to ship an unfinished game.
