After days of rumours, Rockstar Games officially announces that the first trailer for the next Grand Theft Auto will land in early December. No exact date, no title, no platform.

The silence had lasted almost two years. On 8 November 2023 Rockstar Games broke it in a few lines: according to IGN, the studio said on its Newswire that it will release the first trailer for the next Grand Theft Auto "in early December". The Verge adds that the announcement also went out through Rockstar's X account, days after press reports of an imminent reveal.
The message boils down to two ideas. The team says it is "very excited" to finally show the game. It also thanks players: without them, none of this would be possible, Rockstar wrote, as quoted by IGN. The text recalls the studio's founding in 1998, which puts Rockstar's 25th anniversary in the background of December.

What the statement leaves out is just as telling: no official title, no platform, no release window. IGN notes that the trailer date remains open and mentions the Game Awards on 7 December as a possibility, which Rockstar has not confirmed. That is guesswork, not news.
A quick recap. Rockstar confirmed in February 2022 that development was "well underway", then the September 2022 breach leaked around 90 work-in-progress videos, as we reported in our journal. Since then the only figure came from Take-Two, whose financial forecasts pointed to a huge launch between April 2024 and March 2025, according to IGN. That projection was never a release date.
The trailer arrived earlier than planned, on the night of 4 to 5 December 2023, after a leak. The game itself has since been delayed twice: it is now due on 19 November 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with preload on 12 November. Prices are on our price page, and no PC version has been announced.
For the first time, GTA VI's promotional machine was starting under Rockstar's control rather than through a leak. The studio took back the narrative while promising nothing more than a trailer. For gtavifrance readers, it was the start of a countdown that would turn out far longer than expected.
