While waiting for GTA VI, some are not patient. According to La Crème Du Gaming, an indie developer going by aicodewithme published Taipei GTA, also called Taipei Rush: an open-world GTA clone, playable free in the browser, which turns Taipei into an open city with scooters, cars, police and 93 missions.
Questioned by Mirror TV, as quoted by La Crème Du Gaming, the creator says he worked five to six hours a night for a month on top of his day job. He says he leaned on an "army of 200 AIs" to gather street information and generate code, dialogue and even 3D building models, for more than $10,000 in tokens, close to €9,200. The outlet adds nuance: when AIs gave contradictory results, he had to arbitrate, rewrite and sometimes recode by hand. He did not say which model produced what.

The game runs in WebGL on Vercel, with no install, in a stylized low-poly 3D Taipei. Tested by Taiwanese outlet 4Gamers, also cited by La Crème Du Gaming, it shows landmarks like Taipei 101, though their positions do not always match reality, along with audio crackle, long loading times at maximum quality and display bugs. The story follows a hero fighting an urban renewal plan on his grandmother's old street: a more intimate tone than Rockstar's. The look recalls the PS2-era GTAs, Vice City 2002 and San Andreas.
Another reported figure comes from TVBS: "1.2 million concurrent players" within days. The site itself says to take it with caution, and we do the same, lacking an independent source.
Nothing for Rockstar, which has not commented. But the project says something about the times: one person, AI tools and a month are enough to produce a playable GTA-like base, while Rockstar's team has worked for years. Between the two lie polish, writing and music, which we cover on the radio and album side. Worth watching to see whether Taipei GTA lasts.
